Shaping ACGC’s Future Together: Visionary Luncheons

Join us for Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC)’s Visionary Luncheons, a special series of gatherings led by our Executive Director, Andy Miller. With two more opportunities to connect in 2025, these luncheons bring together our valued investors and community supporters to share in the vision for ACGC’s future.

Our luncheon is on Friday, September 26th, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

As we approach our 75th anniversary in 2026, we invite you to be part of the conversation shaping the next chapter of ACGC. Our mission remains steadfast: to provide accessible, high quality mental health services to children and their families to empower them to thrive in childhood and beyond. At ACGC, we envision a world where every family’s mental health needs are seen and met. In light of the Central Texas floods and the fear and trauma felt in our community, especially by our Spanish-speaking youth, your support plays a vital role in making this vision a reality.

The luncheon is complimentary, but seating is limited. Reserve your seat today! Deadline to RSVP is Monday, September 22nd. If you have any questions, please contact Brittany Golden at bgolden@austinchildguidance.org or 512-949-5126.

Guest speaker, Carla Valvidia, LCSW, one of ACGC's Child and Family Therapists, will highlight ACGC therapists’ training and dedication to trauma-informed care, helping children and families determine the best path towards healing.

Carla Valvidia joined ACGC in June 2025. With a Master’s degree in social work from Texas State University, she is a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker with experience working with children, adults, and families across a range of settings. Carla is passionate about making quality mental health care accessible to underserved communities and her goal as a therapist is to create a safe and supportive space where healing and growth can take root.

In her free time, Carla enjoys working out, being outdoors, hiking, cycling, or playing the steel drum! Yoga is also one of her favorite activities. She also loves traveling and learning about different cultures and trying different foods.

Carla has experience helping kids (and their families)with attention deficient or hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, attachment issues, depression, trauma, , developmental trauma, and parenting challenges.

Carla brings a person-centered, strength's-based and holistic approach to therapy. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed care and integrates both bottom-up and top-down methods. This includes somatic, movement, sensory-based and experiential interventions alongside cognitive approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and psychoeducation. She is trained in a wide range of approaches, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Play Therapy, Trust-Based Relational Intervention, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma and Grief Component Therapy for Adolescents, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Carla pays particular attention to the mind-body connection and tailors interventions to meet the unique needs and developmental stages of each client. Her areas of interest include attachment and developmental trauma's impact on the brain. In fact, Carla is Phase 1 certified in Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT).
