Austin Child Guidance Center (ACGC) provides individual and family therapy to youth up to the age 26 and their families. We treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression and anxiety. We can also help your child with grief, trauma, and family challenges such as divorce.
Helping Your Child Thrive in Childhood and Beyond
Here at ACGC, our therapists are trained in a variety of evidence-based modalities to help your child and family, including:
- Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention (CFTSI): Brief intervention (5‐8 sessions) for children 7 to 18 years old to reduce traumatic stress reactions and the onset of PTSD.
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): Involves in-the-moment coaching on skills to develop positive interactions with your child.
- Play Therapy: Therapists utilize play to help youth express their feelings and emotions through play instead of words.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: Talking one-on-one with a therapist for a set number of sessions.
- Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT): For children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents, guardians, or caregivers.
- Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI): Promotes healing and builds trust with youth who have experienced trauma.
Our whole-family approach is informed by therapeutic theories such as (but not limited to):
- Attachment Theory
- Cognitive Behavior Theories
- Family Systems Theory
- Person-Centered Theory
- Social Learning Theory
Group Therapy
ACGC also offers in-person group therapy in Austin or virtual sessions to provide additional counseling and support for families.
A Safe Space for Healing
ACGC features a beautiful playroom where youth can feel safe and supported during their counseling experience. Our Healing Garden also provides a space for relaxation and therapeutic healing for youth and families.
