X-WR-CALDESC:Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach that hel
 ps people make positive changes to support improved health and well-being.
  The 'spirit' of MI includes collaboration between the therapist and clien
 t\, evoking or 'drawing out' the client's ideas about change\, and emphasi
 zing the autonomy of the client. MI has been used successfully in settings
  as diverse as substance abuse treatment\, specialized treatment centers\,
  inpatient units\, primary care\, community mental health\, and schools. T
 his workshop will include an overview of Motivational Interviewing\, intro
 duction to the core MI skills and components\, and opportunity to practice
  strategies that increase the potential for change in youth and parents.
