ACGC Recruiting Social Work Interns
Friday, March 4th, 2011Austin Child Guidance Center is currently accepting resumes for second year UT MSSW interns interested in our clinical placement. The deadline for submission of materials is March 11, 2011.
ACGC offers a very unique opportunity for students to develop the necessary therapeutic skills to work with a variety of children and families, in a challenging and clinically rich environment. The foundation of this internship focuses on an exposure to and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, including psychologists, psychiatrists, family therapists, professional counselors, and other social workers. Since our philosophy is that it takes time to truly develop a deep understanding of how to do therapy with children, we require a longer commitment from our students than most placements…and we take seriously the time and investment we make in our students as well. The trade off in committing to a longer placement, however, is that you will graduate with a solid foundation of therapeutic skills that can be used with children and families in a variety of settings. Students begin in the fall by co-facilitating one group and attending student seminar on Thursday afternoons. During the spring and summer semesters, students attend the placement 20 hours/week, carry a caseload of approx 7-8 clients, and attend required weekly meetings.
If you would like to be considered for an interview, please email, mail, fax or drop-off : resume, cover letter, and two ACGC Recommendation/Reference Forms to Seanna Crosbie, LCSW (scrosbie@austinchildguidance.org) by March 11th.
